Treasury of knowledge

The treasury of knowledge features interesting content from the field of electric power transmission.

Power plant telecommunications from 1988

Electric power facilities are often located away from the usual telecommunication lines. Therefore, transmission lines are the only option for a reliable and economic connection. This is the reason for establishing the first high-frequency connections through transmission lines as early as 1920.

Their use has been growing very fast, until the optical cable became a constituent part of the transmission line. Optical cables successfully replace high-frequency connections due to their extraordinary telecommunication capacities. The high-frequency connections remain mostly on older transmission lines without optical cables, on long transmission lines and in places where a high reliability rate is required. The ELES Company has integrated 1,612 km of optical cables so far.
