The first useful bulb in the world

The first useful light bulb was made by the American inventor Thomas Alva Edison (1847-1931). After many of his attempts failed, he succeeded in producing a carbon filament bulb. The Museum in Laško exhibits the bulb in its original form alongside its mould.

The first water-driven device for electricity generation in Slovenia was built in 1885 in the Laško Spa. The first light bulb in Laško or in the Spodnja Štajerska region was illuminated just six years after its invention.
