Personal protective equipment for work at height

Overhead power lines maintenance workers use protective equipment for working at height; the equipment comprises a helmet, climbing safety belt, Y-rope, retractable type fall arrester and a slider for the fixed protective system.

The helmet protects maintenance workers from potential strokes to head. The climbing belt and Y-rope are used to protect the workers from potential falls. On one side, they are attached to the climbing belt with Y-rope, on the other side they are attached to the pillar construction with two karabiners. By using the climbing belt and the Y-rope, maintenance workers are protected during the entire time of working at height, because they are always protected by one of the karabiners when climbing from one part of the construction to the other.

The retractable type fall arrester is intended for work at height, because it protects the maintenance worker from falling while moving in a 5-metre area. One part of the retractable type fall arrester is attached to the worker's climbing belt; the other part is attached to the pillar construction. It functions as a car safety belt, thus preventing the fall.
