ELES Shares Asset Management Success with Slovak System Operator

Today, ELES presented to colleagues from the Slovak transmission system operator SEPS how we manage assets, why effective asset management is crucial for the company's operations, and how we use the Maximo Asset Management information system to assist in this process.

Asset Management is a systematic way of managing a company's assets. Effective asset management can significantly contribute to reducing costs over the entire lifecycle of a given asset (for example, in the case of a system operator, the costs of managing transmission lines) and contribute to more efficient company operations. ELES uses the Maximo Asset Management information system for asset management, which is connected to the business information system and other technical information systems within ELES. With the help of Maximo AM, ELES plans and maintains the power grid and monitors the condition of electrical devices. To learn more about this system and the best practices in business and asset management processes, representatives of the Slovak transmission system operator SEPS visited ELES.

"Since Slovenia lies at the crossroads of European power routes, successful management, development, and maintenance of the power infrastructure is crucial for the uninterrupted transmission of electricity," emphasized Klemen Dragaš, Director of Asset and Project Management at ELES, who also presented to the Slovak colleagues the management of the Slovenian transmission and distribution system and the importance of obtaining the ISO 55001:2014 asset management certificate. "This is a big step for the company, which will bring even greater changes in the future, as we will significantly improve business processes throughout the ELES system, increase awareness of the importance of asset management, and the extensive positive effects that a comprehensive asset management system brings."

Mag. Michal Géci, MBA, Executive Director of the ICT Division, was impressed by the practices presented by ELES. "ELES has demonstrated a solid and effective asset management strategy that has significantly improved operational efficiency and asset management performance in the company. Their extensive system has enabled them to optimize maintenance schedules, reduce outages, and extend the lifecycle of company assets. Additionally, ELES's approach has led to improved decision-making processes and cost savings, which are crucial for long-term sustainability. We are grateful for the opportunity to learn from ELES and appreciate the willingness of the employees to share their valuable experiences with us. This visit has provided us with a wealth of knowledge that we can apply in our company SEPS, which will soon embark on a similar path."

During today's visit to the ELES Technology Center in Beričevo, SEPS representatives also visited the ELES Diagnostic Analytical Center (DAC), where they learned how ELES uses advanced processes to manage the power grid infrastructure in practice.

Meanwhile, ELES and SEPS, together with the Hungarian network operator Mavri, are also collaborating on the joint TUNE project, within which the companies will optimize the electrical networks in all three countries. During the visit to ELES, they also discussed the progress of this project, within which they have already identified locations suitable for implementing improvements.
