A new management of the non-governmental organisation that promotes economic collaboration with Japan was elected at the electoral assembly of the Slovenia-Japan Business Council (SJBC) which was held on 23 February 2017 in Ljubljana.
Mag. Aleksander Mervar, the CEO of ELES, was unanimously elected as the new president of SJBC, succeeding the previous president, Dr. Hubert Kosler, the CEO of Yaskawa in Slovenia.
SJBC is normally managed by a representative of a company that conducts the most important economic projects between Slovenia and Japan. At the end of 2016, ELES signed a Memorandum of Understanding with the NEDO Japanese agency and an Implementation Document (ID) with Hitachi for the smart grid project, which is among the most important projects currently being conducted between Slovenia and Japan. ELES takes the most credit for actually initiating the implementation of this demanding project at the end of 2016, after several years of preparation.
In addition to electing the president, the Council also elected a new management board and other bodies.
The Assembly of the SJBC thanked the former president, Dr. Hubert Kosler, for his successful work. He will continue working at SJBC as the member of the management board.
The Assembly of the SJBC also adopted a report on the work conducted in 2016, and the 2017 Activities Programme.
